Dental Implants South Jersey
Dental implants are the standard of care for patients missing one or many teeth. Implants look, feel, and function like your natural teeth so there's no need to be troubled by dentures any longer.
Dental implants are artificial teeth used to replace missing natural teeth. Implants can be used as substitutes for a full arch, multiple teeth or a single tooth and are suitable replacements for upper and lower teeth. This can be a long-term solution for people who have lost teeth because of gum disease, decay, failed dental treatments or other reasons.
Unlike other replacement options, dental implants are sturdy because they are secured to the jawbone. The teeth look and feel natural and can last for many years without issues if cared for properly. Dental implants can provide quality replacement options, improving function and aesthetics.

Voorhees Dental Implant Treatment Process
The dental implant procedure begins with the placement of a small orthopedic device made of medical grade titanium into your jaw. The implant is allowed to integrate biologically with the jawbone throughout the next two to six months. During this healing period, a temporary tooth replacement can be worn over the healing site.
In some cases, a newer technology called Immediate Occlusal Loading or Immediate Non-Occlusal Loading is used. This could allow for the immediate placement of an implant at the time of tooth extraction and the immediate placement of a non-removable tooth or bridge.
If the immediate placement is not an option, the next step would be to attach the abutment. A crown or other prosthetics then would be attached to the connecting piece. Once the process is complete, patients should expect to return to the office for detailed home care, cleaning instructions and maintenance.
The majority of implant treatment at Advanced Oral Specialty Group is provided within our office. To reduce the risk of complication, our office has a special surgical suite dedicated to the placement of dental implants, rather than performing to procedure in a regular dental treatment room.
Several anesthesia options, including local anesthesia (Novocain), oral sedation (pills to reduce anxiety) and IV sedation, are available to patients throughout the process. It would be administered by one of the Board-certified anesthesiologists at our office.

A technique called "New Smile Today™” also could be used as restorative method. A single tooth, multiple teeth or a full set of teeth could be replaced by inserting an implant or implants and attaching a temporary crown or a fixed bridge to the implants on the same day. A final prosthesis would replace the temporary one at a later date.
Dr. Meltzer has presented this new approach around the world after developing the technology for the procedure in conjunction with BIOMET 3i. This procedure typically causes less post-operative discomfort, including swelling and less bruising. Patients may be able to resume their normal activities in many cases the next day.
Grafting and Sinus Lift in South Jersey
To do any type of dental implant, patients need adequate bone quality, quantity and space to ensure the dental implant is placed properly. When teeth are extracted, socket or ridge preservation is an important way to prevent bone loss.
If bone loss does occur, there still may be options. For instance, a bone augmentation could take bone from another part of your mouth and transplant it to your jawbone to strengthen it. An allograft, which is bone from central bone bank, is a synthetic bone that also could be used.
A sinus augmentation, also called a sinus lift, could be performed if there is not enough bone to allow implants to be placed in the back part of the upper jaw. The procedure would increase the height of the upper jaw by placing bone in the upper sinus area. Dr. Meltzer has placed more than 1,000 sinus augmentation procedures.
Advantages of Dental Implants South Jersey
Dental implants are a safe and effective way to replace missing teeth. Not only are the artificial teeth a comfortable solution to restore function, they prevent the ongoing loss of gum and bone structure associated with full and partial dentures.
Dental implants can provide secure and stable replacements. Dentures can become unattached, move or break if they are not firmly in place. With proper care, dental implants can last a lifetime. Advanced Oral Specialty Group offers a limited lifetime warranty on the implants. Contact our office for more details.
Conventional fixed bridgework sometimes requires altering or cutting down adjacent teeth. This is not the case with dental implants. A single tooth implant or multiple teeth can be installed without damaging healthy teeth and preserving your natural tooth structure, reducing the risk of decay and the need for root canal treatment.
Success rates of dental implants vary, depending on where in the jaw the implants are placed but, typically, dental implants have a success rate of up to 98%. With proper care and maintenance, implants can last a lifetime.
