Digital X-Rays
Our practice has used digital X-Rays for over fifteen years. This technology allows us to provide better care by providing more accurate diagnoses. The entire process is much faster, safer and more comfortable.
The process involves the placement of a small sensor in your mouth. The sensor is about the same size and shape as a standard x-ray film. It is connected to a computer by a thin wire. Next, an X-ray beam is sent through your teeth and gum and into the sensor. The sensor records the image and sends the data it to the computer. The x-ray is ready for viewing in about 3 seconds.
What makes digital x-rays better?
The digital dental X-ray system is more sensitive than traditional X-ray film. Therefore, your exposure to radiation is reduced by about 90 percent. The enlarged and enhanced images improve their diagnostic quality. Digital x-rays eliminate the need for processing chemicals, film, processing equipment and film storage. Furthermore, used processing chemicals and discarded film are not polluting the environment. Your x-rays are able to be viewed in less than 3 seconds, numerous duplicate copies with the same quality as the original can be created, density and contrast can be adjusted, and the images can be enhanced and magnified to improve their diagnostic quality.
